Explorers have a newly opened centre on Elgar Road in the heart of leafy Surrey Hills, one of Melbourne’s Inner East suburbs.

The project called on Barefoot Carpentry to capture the essence of the suburbs 19th century architecture with an emphasis on timber structures and leafy green plantings.

Spotted Gum decking and sandstone paving tie in the old and new world looks, capturing sensory attention on both tactile and aesthetic levels.

The playscapes are rich with natural themes from the responsibly sourced timber used to create cubbies and play forts to the bush log surrounds of the sandpits, these spaces are created to inspire a love of nature in even the youngest minds.
