Wyndham Vale is the newest centre built for the Learning Ladder Childcare group. This huge centre is set amongst the newly established Wynbrook Estate, about 30kms southwest of the Melbourne CBD.
To say this was a big undertaking is putting it lightly, the playscape footprint is approximately 1000m2.
Set across 3 individual yards and over 2 stories, the scape required 3 separate crane lifts for materials. It’s lovingly dotted with bright coloured rubber surfacing, themed play forts and cubbies and even a 10-meter-high Tyrannosaurus Rex guarding the front gate!
Incorporating appropriate and viable plantings into such a new area posed a challenge, as the tree coverage is sparse but the addition of ferneries to shaded areas and the diversity of rosemary and pig face gives this scape a lush feeling. The maturity of all 30 plus trees planted also ensured a 1.5-2-meter coverage and gave the scape the greenery it requires to look more established.
